Alexander Bublik's career

On the junior tour, Alexander Bublik picked up eleven titles in total, six in singles and five in doubles. Bublik made his professional ATP Tour debut in 2016, when a wildcard got him into the main draw of the St. Petersburg Open, though he failed to get past the first round. He celebrated his first ATP-level win shortly afterwards at the Kremlin Cup, beating top-seeded Spaniard Roberto Bautista Agut, then ranked 13th in the world.

The following year, Alexander Bublik made his Grand Slam debut after successfully qualifying for the Australian Open. Also in 2017, he celebrated his first Challenger title, triumphing over Nicolas Jarry in the final of the Morelos Open. Shortly after, Bublik made his debut on the hallowed grass of Wimbledon, where as a lucky loser he faced Andy Murray in the first round — a match he was unable to win. Nevertheless, Alexander Bublik kept climbing steadily up the ATP rankings and, at world number 95, broke into the Top 100 for the first time in his career.

Davis Cup debut and first ATP titles

After overcoming his inconsistent form from the 2018 season, the Kazakh's trajectory pointed steadily upward. In 2019, he made his Davis Cup debut for his country, reached his first ATP finals in Newport and Chengdu, and cracked the Top 50 for the first time. The following year, Bublik surprisingly reached the doubles semi-final at the Australian Open alongside compatriot Mikhail Kukushkin, his biggest success at a major up to that point. He also picked up his first win over a Top 10 player in the first round of the French Open, beating Gaël Monfils.

Further doubles success followed — for Alexander Bublik, doubles is primarily a fun, recreational programme. That included reaching the final at the French Open in 2021 alongside compatriot Andrey Golubev. But his singles game also kept improving steadily, and in 2022 he celebrated his first ATP title at the indoor tournament in Montpellier by beating Alexander Zverev. Alexander Bublik's first outdoor title followed less than twelve months later at the grass-court event in Halle, where he gave Andrey Rublev no chance.

Things also kept improving for Alexander Bublik off the court, after his wife Tatjana gave birth to their son Vassilij in 2022. The family now mostly travels the globe together, letting the player — also known as something of a party animal — focus even more on his game.
