The revolution continues. Wilson introduces new racquets within their revolutionary Clash racquet line. The Clash gets its name by combining usually different traits of (power + control) & (flexibility + stability) all within the same frame.

The Clash 98 is designed to take advantage of the more vertical swing of the modern game. The Clash 98 bends in a very unique way, which creates a deeper ball pocket -- enhancing the overall feel for the frame while still providing excellent stability.

Wilson has implemented all-new technology into the Clash, starting with the introduction of Free Flex. Powered by a proprietary carbon mapping, the Clash bends in all-new dimensions so players can swing freely with more confidence. Wilson also developed the Clash with a unique frame geometry known as Stable Smart designed through digital simulation, providing best-in-class stability and power, making the Clash one of the most flexible frames in tennis.

Specifications of the Clash 98 are very similar to that of the Clash 100 Tour. With a slightly smaller 98 square inch head, an 11.5 ounce strung weight, and a 16x19 string pattern -- the Clash 98 fits a wide variety of players looking for a mixture of power, control, and spin.

For Optimal String Performance Wilson Recommends:

  • Comfort: Wilson Sensation Plus
  • Control: Luxilon Smart

If selecting tension "Below Range", please note at checkout within the comments field your desired tension value.

Easy on the Arm
This shopper rated the product 5 out of 5 stars

I’ve used stiffer racquets for decades and with age, I’m definitely feeling the effects of prolonged playing on my arm. The Clash was identified as a racquet which would help address that and it hasn’t disappointed. There’s definitely more ‘give’ when you hit the ball, though it still provides good power. What is still taking some getting used to is the control aspect, which is expected. Because of the increased flexibility, I find myself either overcompensating or under compensating, but I suspect that this will work itself out over time.

Super - a comfortable Pure Strike
This shopper rated the product 5 out of 5 stars

This is a fantastic racquet in every respect. I played with Clash Tour, Blade v7, Pure Strike 98 and Tour gen. 3, and Prince TT 310, and this racquet is by far the easiest to play with, comfortable and powerful, while being controllable and precise. Note that after coming from a control racquet like Pure Strike or Blade, you might experience a bit of a change, but you need to give this frame a chance. Also note that this racquet is not really just a variant of Clash line. It is bit different. It feels more like very comfortable Pure Strike 98 than a Clash 100 with more control. I've been playing with this frame for three months, and I like it more every day. Well rounded in every area, and especially good for offensive spins (including kick serves and slices) and defensive groundstrokes (because of its head light property).
