Gamma X-ST Stringing Machine

My friend who had this stringer for 4 years recommended that I buy this machine. He really loves this machine. It is a very reliable machine, and he had no issues with it. I am new to stringing racquets. So, I purchased this unit based on his recommendation. I have only strung 2 racquets, and both came out great. My only complaint is that this is not an easy machine to assemble out of the box. I had to get help from my friend who came over to help finish the assembly. I went to Gamma's web site, and very disappointed that they didn't have any help. I was hoping for a video or something that could help with the assembly. By the way, this machine was originally recommended by a professional stringer who string for the pros at major tournaments. This guy is like a master stringer, and he also works with major string manufactures in developing strings. This stringer is his recommendation.

The machine is awesome but the assembly directions and the directions for use would be a real challenge for the beginning stringer. YouTube can only do so much to help overcome issues. Attaching the base should be and are simple once explained properly. Even the technician at Gamma admitted they were poorly written. That being said even he struggled to explain the setup. Should have been able to explain in 3 easy steps.

Overall I really like this machine. I've been stringing for about 9 years now and it has some convenient features. I love the design of the four shoulder v mounts. I also really like the lock or brake system when working with o-port frames. It works fine on a tabletop but I prefer to mount it to a stand. It arrived in perfect condition and packaged really well. As a bonus it looks really nice too, even better than the picture.

I bought this stringer in Jan. 2015 to string my own racquets. It's worked out great and is a big step up from the Alpha drop weight I used back in the day. Unfortunately a piece of the string gripper fell off last month (exactly 2 years and 1 week after ordering) so we contacted Midwest Sports. They put us in contact w/ John at Gamma and he completely took care of it. They replaced the whole crank mechanism w/ no cost to me except for the cost of shipping the old one to them. It's a high quality piece of serious equipment backed by a high quality company and sold thru the best tennis equipment distributor in the business. Thanks!
